Fallon Sherrock reveals look from Prince William after making 'stupid' comment

Sherrock was made an MBE for her services to darts last year - but not before a slight embarrassment during her interaction with the Prince of Wales

Darting trailblazer Fallon Sherrock has revealed an amusing mishap that occurred while she was being awarded her MBE last year.

The 30-year-old first made headlines during the PDC World Darts Championship in 2019, where she became the first woman to win a match at the prestigious event.

She continued her success by reaching the quarter-finals of the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts and winning the inaugural Women's World Matchplay in 2022, and was even invited to be a challenger during the 2020 PDC Premier League - also becoming the first female to take part in the event.

In recognition of her numerous pioneering achievements, Sherrock – aptly nicknamed the 'Queen of the Palace' – was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to darts - but not without a minor blunder.

When asked about the experience on Wayne Mardle's Club 501 YouTube channel, Sherrock described it as "Nerve-racking."

"I remember getting there and just feeling so nervous about it," she said. "Because I didn't know what to say, didn't know what to do. My feet were killing me from wearing heels all day. We were walking miles - I should have worn comfier shoes!"

Sherrock then confessed to a slight embarrassment she experienced during her interaction with the Prince of Wales, after a mix-up with terminology, reports the Express.

"I think I was more worried about embarrassing myself," Sherrock confessed. "Because I know you have like a little chat. I just didn't wanna say anything stupid. But I kind of did a little bit. I didn't mean to - to William.

"He said obviously that he watches darts on the television, and I literally turned around - so stupid - I turned around: 'What on the TV? ' Like, really stupid and he kind of looked at me and was like: 'Yes, the television.' He just looked at me plain, like, did you just say TV? I was shaking and just like: 'Hi.'"

Sherrock went on to share details about the protocol for such a prestigious occasion, including some of the dos and don'ts for those being honoured.

"You're there, and you sit in a room, waiting, and you can venture around the castle, have a look around, and all that," she explained. "Then you go sit in another room, and they tell you what you've got to do before you meet."

"Because you've got to get to one place and another place, and you're not allowed to turn your back on them and all of that, but it's like 30 seconds."
