Wrexham's co-owner Rob McElhenney couldn't hide his mortification after NFL icon Tom Brady was played a snippet of him promising to damage the arm of the seven-time Super Bowl winner.

Football club rivalry took a friendly turn between two celebs as McElhenney jested about inflicting harm upon NFL icon Brady a few years back. The stars have been nattering since they both entered the British football scene with investments.

Wrexham got lucky when actors McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took the club over in 2020, storming up two tiers to League One. Meanwhile, Brady's Birmingham City slipped down from the Championship last term, landing them in the same level as Wrexham.

Ahead of their clubs' match-up, Brady and McElhenney were all laughs, exchanging playful jibes before coming face-to-face on the turf. Thats when Brady got a peek at McElhenney's TV character from "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" who boasted he'd rally his mates to clobber Brady over his loathing for the then Patriots wizard.

McElhenney squirmed as Brady watched the clip on his YouTube channel, with the NFL icon quipping, "What's wrong with you? Why would you write that? Get him out, I want him out of here," while McElhenney attempted to justify his words.

The Wrexham co-owner then informed the ex-Buccaneers star that in the following part of the scene, his wife unequivocally stated that Brady "would kick your f------ a--."

As the match kicked off, Wrexham quickly took the lead with Jack Marriott poking in from a corner. However, Brady's Birmingham, who broke the bank in League One transfer spending this summer, had the final say.

Their record acquisition Jay Stansfield, snapped up for around £15million from Fulham at the close of the transfer window, levelled the score before the break and notched another shortly after to take control. The Blues cemented their win with a strike from Tomoki Iwata 30 minutes from the end.

Both teams have hit the ground running this season. Wrexham is perched at the top of League One on goal difference, while Birmingham is hot on their heels with a game in hand. They're set for a rematch at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on Jan. 25, with the banter between the two likely to ramp up until then.
