Houston Texans tight end Brevin Jordan unwittingly soldiered through a game with a torn ACL.

The Texans clinched a 19-13 victory against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, shooting to a 2-0 start this season. However, the win was overshadowed by news of Jordan's unexpected injury revelation. He will now miss the rest of the NFL season.

Jordan, in the pivotal last year of his rookie deal and eager to show his mettle, landed on the injured reserve list after sustaining the knee problem. Despite the injury, Jordan completed Sunday's game, even securing a four-yard catch without realizing the injury.

"It's what we do," Jordan wrote in a post on X. "We modern day gladiators. I played the whole game, not knowing which play or when, but with a torn ACL and didn't even know until the next day. I love this football ---- so much bro. Everything about it. And I'm looking forward to coming back better then ever."

Prior to his injury, Jordan had clocked up two receptions for seven yards across the first two games. Initially the second-string to Dalton Schulz, Jordan had increasingly shared playtime over the preceding seasons.

Excelling in the previous season with 17 catches for a solid 219 yards, Jordan had made his mark particularly during the wild card showdown where he bagged a 76-yard touchdown off a short pass from CJ Stroud against the Cleveland Browns.

Stroud was visibly moved by Jordan's recent injury, revering his influence both on the pitch and within the team spirit. He shared with journalists: "If you want to talk about the heartbeat of this team, it's just who he is.

"Somebody who loves hard and he loves everyone in this building. He loves ball and I think he was really getting his momentum on just who he wanted to be in this league and how he wanted to approach practice.

"Praying for him and I know he's a faith-based man and God makes no mistakes and he knows that, so I'm not worried about him but I am going to be a brother that he can lean on. I love Brev and he is my brother for the rest of my life. I know that he'll be back soon and he'll do great things when he comes back."

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans added: "It's really heartbreaking losing Brevin. He was on his way to a breakout year. I feel sorry for Brevin and the injury. Any time these guys go through these injuries, it's always tough, so first thing first, it's about Brevin and him just attacking rehab the right way and getting back as soon as he can."

The Texans are set to face the equally undefeated Minnesota Vikings in a thrilling cross-conference showdown at US Bank Stadium on Sunday, September 20.
