Mick Schumacher's Miss Universe finalist fiancee and 'family vote' on her meeting Michael
The son of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher, Mick, is now engaged to his long-term influencer girlfriend Laila Hasanovic, meaning she's set to join his famous family

The Schumachers have remained fiercely private since seven-time F1 world champion Michael suffered life-changing injuries in December 2013. A skiing accident led to Schumacher being temporarily placed into an induced coma before returning home the following September, but updates on his condition since have been few and far between.
It was reported that the F1 icon had made his first public appearance for 11 years last weekend as his daughter Gina-Marie married Iain Bethke at the Schumachers’ mansion in Majorca. Although guests were instructed to hand in their phones at the door, it would have been a huge family decision to give the wedding party insight into Michael’s condition.
There looks to be another family celebration on the horizon, too, with reserve Mercedes driver Mick Schumacher, 25, becoming engaged to influencer Hasanovic. Here’s all you need to know about the model, including how the Schumacher family decided whether she could meet her future father-in-law.
Who is Laila Hasanovic?
Hasanovic, 24, was born in Bosnia but moved to Denmark as a child, being raised in a small Danish town – and spending a year in Kentucky as an exchange student – before moving to Copenhagen, aged 19. By the time she moved to the capital, Hasanovic had been modelling for three years, having been given her first campaign by a watch brand.
The model has amassed more than 300k followers on Instagram and spends her time between Copenhagen and Switzerland. Notably, she reached the finals of Miss Universe Denmark in 2019, finishing in the top 10.
Before dating Schumacher, Hasanovic was in a relationship with footballer Jonas Wind, who plays for Wolfsburg and the Denmark national team. The social media star has been spotted at numerous motorsport events during her relationship with Schumacher but doesn’t share her new fiancee’s passion for getting behind the wheel.
“I got my driver license when I was 17, and ever since then, I have never been comfortable with driving a car,” Hasanovic told her followers. “I always try to practice as much as I can, I just don't enjoy it that much.”
Engagement to Mick Schumacher
The couple have reportedly been together since last August and regularly share snaps together on social media. The announcement of their engagement was low-key, though, with Hasanovic showing her ring in an Instagram post captioned: ‘Then it’s game over’, while Mick is yet to comment publicly.
German outlet Bild has previously claimed that the Schumacher family is ‘smitten’ with Hasanovic. The model was pictured with her fiancee’s mother, Corinna, at the FIA World Endurance Championship in Qatar in March, while Schumacher was competing.
Family vote
The Schumacher family have remained private about Michael’s condition, with his brother Ralf being excluded from spending time with his sibling, at times. It is understood that the driving legend has been significantly changed by his accident and his wife, Corinna, has worked hard to maintain their level of privacy.
Only Corinna, Mick, Gina-Maire and a few other close friends and family have previously been allowed to see Schumacher since his accident. That is why, when it came to introducing Hasanovic to her father-in-law, it was claimed to be decided by a family vote. It has been reported that Hasanovic is the first girlfriend that Schumacher Jnr has ever introduced to his dad.
