Manchester United v Tottenham: Best bets for all Sunday’s Premier League and Championship games

Our betting expert with punts for huge clash at Old Trafford and Ipswich-Aston Villa, with Championship action at Swansea PLUS a Madrid derby angle

Dare to shoot for thrills at Manchester United.

These days, Old Trafford and thrills go together like a horse and garage.

Wednesday’s 1-1 with Europa also-rans Twente would once have been a standout shocker. It’s a more crowded field now.

It can’t get much worse, but it won’t get much better without someone who can turn more shots into goals.

Take out the 7-0 over Barnsley, and United have had 95 shots in seven games so far, scoring just over a goal a match.

Before their midweek Europa win, visitors Tottenham (4.30pm) had also had 95 shots – in a game fewer – but for nearly TWO goals a pop.

Free-shooting Bruno Fernandes is United’s most wasteful. Luckily for us, and for Bruno, the ball doesn’t need to actually go in the net to get paid.

Fernandes ‘OVER 2.5 shots’ at 19/20 (Hills) is right on target.

Spurs run Manchester City a close second on shots per game, with Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson doing much of the heavy lifting.

Take Solanke ‘OVER 2.5 shots’ at 13/10 (BetVic), and Johnson ‘OVER 1.5 shots’ at 4/6 (Bet365) – that play is as short as 2/7 elsewhere.

Aston Villa super sub Jhon Duran has come on and scored four times for the Villans this season – and they might need his late heroics again at Ipswich (2pm).

The Tractor Boys rarely threaten, but they plough a fairly tight furrow defensively and could get Unai Emery’s boys huffing and puffing.

The awkward issue for wannabe Duran punters is that player markets get framed around starters, not finishers – and Ollie Watkins rightly has that starter gig in his pocket.

Watkins has shaken off any post-Euros flatness, and the 10/11 (Paddy) ‘score or assist’ is bob-on.

Bristol City have kept two clean sheets away from home since last Christmas, and no clean sheets anywhere at all this season.

Hosts Swansea (3pm) aren’t ideally equipped to exploit them, but indirect set-piece threats Liam Cullen at 10/3 (Unibet) and Harry Darling at 9/1 (Boylesports) ‘anytime scorer’ could prove there’s more than one way to skin a Robin.

Five of the past six Madrid derbies – Atletico v Real (8pm, ITV4) – were drawn at 90mins. Bet a DRAW tonight at 5/2 (Lads, Coral).
