Daniel Dubois will defend his heavyweight world title tonight against two-time champion Anthony Joshua in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley

by · The Mirror

Daniel Dubois will defend his heavyweight world title for the first time tonight against a formidable challenger in Anthony Joshua.

Dubois has bounced back from defeats by Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk to take his seat at boxing's top table - albeit after he was upgraded to full world champion status when Usyk gave up his IBF belt to focus on his rematch with Tyson Fury. Dubois will put his belt on the line against a man aiming to become one of just six three-time heavyweight champions in history.

Joshua has also come back from adversity having lost back-to-back fights against Usyk as he was dethroned for the second time. The Olympic champion has won four fights in a row to stand one win away from an undisputed clash with either Fury or Usyk next year. Here is everything you need to know about tonight's fights...

What time will Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois start tonight?

Daniel Dubois will walk to the ring first tonight at around 9.45pm with Anthony Joshua hot on his heels. The two men will then touch gloves just after 10pm before the first bell sounds. The fight should not start later than this but could be brought forward if the five undercard fights are completed earlier than expected. There will also be a special performance from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher before the main event in which he will belt out three of the band's classics.

Quotes corner

Anthony Joshua: "People have good performances and bad performances but that's irrelevant, it's all about on the night. I'm a different beast. I'm a different beast Filip Hrgovic, and he's a different beast to Francis Ngannou or Otto Wallin so all those performances are irrelevant. I've got a fresh man in front of me who I have to conquer. I'm more mature but it's always been there, from a young age I've been working hard to achieve in my life. I don't take opportunities lightly because I've been on that side of the fence when no-one gives me a look in, so if you give me an opportunity I am going to take it."

Daniel Dubois: "He's been the king for a long time; I expected him to be the favourite but there is another upset on the cards. He's been on a momentous rise, he's been at the top for a long time now. I feel its my time to take that crown and to hold on to that world title for a while and earn some of what he's earned, get some of the cream, the gold. He's a man with two hands and two fists so anything he brings I need to shut it down, take the fight to him and make it a dog fight. I thrive in chaos so I'll make it wild and messy."
