Man Utd squad in limbo with SIX senior players still waiting on contract decisions

Manchester United have six players unsure about their futures with their contracts all having less than 12 months to run.

The majority of the club's major names are tied down beyond this season, but several of their squad players don't know whether they'll still be in Manchester next year. Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are two of those with Erik ten Hag needing to settle on his defensive options.

Lindelof was available for sale in the summer and is likely to be let go as he continues to struggle with injury. Evans meanwhile was bought back to the club in the twilight years of his career and is now 36, yet is still being leaned on by Ten Hag amid backline issues.

Evans featured in the goalless draw with Aston Villa last time out. He started ahead of Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt after the team conceded six goals in two games. The Northern Irishman though could still be allowed to leave if their defence does tighten up.

Tom Heaton has long been a squad player, sitting third in the goalkeeping pecking order. Christian Eriksen meanwhile will soon seek clarity on his future - admitting last week that there had been no contact with the club over extending his time at Old Trafford.

Eriksen was one of Ten Hag's first signings and begun as a regular, but his minutes have become increasingly sporadic. He too was linked with a summer departure but opted to remain in Manchester.

Harry Maguire and Amad are two of the more regular players to have entered the final years of their deals - but United have one-year extension options in both of their contracts. United plan to negotiate fresh terms with Amad, who has become a more integral squad member this season, reports the MEN.

The Ivorian has featured in six of their seven Premier League games - starting four of those. Maguire meanwhile continues to be in and out of the starting team but remains an integral member of the squad. He came off the bench to rescue a point in the recent Europa League draw at Porto.

The England defender will be sidelined for a few weeks having come off at half-time against Villa. Maguire left Villa Park wearing a protective boot.

United have been shrewd with their contracts when it comes to fringe players. Last year they activated a clause in Aaron Wan-Bissaka's contract which meant they could demand a fee for him, rather than seeing him exit for free. He eventually went to West Ham for £15million.
