'I've won Super League Grand Final more than anyone - here's my Wigan-Hull KR prediction'

Jamie Peacock, whose nine Grand Final wins is the most from anyone in Super League history, is backing Rovers to cause a shock against Wigan with his former Leeds team-mate to the fore

We’re ready for a classic Betfred Super League Grand Final - and I’m going for Elliot Minchella to be the first winner of the Rob Burrow Award.

I feel he could lead Hull KR to making history against Wigan tonight. And I reckon they will do so in extra-time with our first-ever Super League golden point Grand Final. Mini’s had a great season and it’s brilliant how he’s managed to make it to the top, becoming an outstanding leader and pro’.

I was with him when he first started out at Leeds. Back then, he obviously made a mistake and ended up leaving. But we all make mistakes when we’re younger. The key is not compounding those with more stupid mistakes. Mini’s done the opposite.

He’s done it the hard way and when you do it like that I think you treasure it all a bit more. You can see that with Mini. It’s a great story as he goes into his first Grand Final and having also made his England debut and the Dream Team in 2024.

Wigan have an edge with big-game experience but KR might have it in terms of will and desire. If they truly believe in themselves I reckon they can upset a very, very good Wigan side. Either way, it should be a belting final because we’ve got two teams who both pride themselves on their fitness and their ability to stay in games regardless of whether they are playing well or not.

Both have shown throughout the season they are able to do that. We saw in the recent league game how close it was and this will be similar; the team that backs their fitness, defence and mental toughness will prevail.

And then there’s the superstars. Mikey Lewis, fresh from winning the Steve Prescott Man of Steel this week, and the Man of Steel before him - Bevan French. It’s also two clubs who are getting things right on and off the pitch. It shows the power of not only getting things right on it but off it. If you have strong management and make strong decisions it’s easier to be better on it.

Lastly, we have two outstanding young coaches. We’re lucky in Super League at the moment in that we have some outstanding young coaches around and Willie Peters and Matt Peet are two of the best. Great coaches make a side look better than the sum of their parts. And both sides have quality players but both are better than the sum of their parts.

That’s down to two high quality coaches who understand tactics and people but also emotions and feelings behind it. It's all set.
