Ted Kravitz issues grovelling apology after dropping F-bomb on Sky Sports F1 broadcast

Sky Sports F1 favourite Ted Kravitz and host Simon Lazenby both apologised to viewers after the former swore during a broadcast ahead of Singapore Grand Prix practice

Ted Kravitz was forced to apologise on the live Sky Sports broadcast after swearing on air at the Singapore Grand Prix.

The experienced pit lane reporter's faux pas happened during the broadcast ahead of the first practice session of the race weekend at Marina Bay. Kravitz was commenting on the design of the Ferrari cars during the pit lane presentation when he made a mistake on a take.

He stopped talking and said, 'Oh, f***ing hell', before the broadcast quickly cut back to main presenter Simon Lazenby. A few minutes later, they went back to Kravitz who explained that a first take which had been scrapped was accidentally played to viewers.

As he handed back to Kravitz, Lazenby said: "Apologies for any bad language you may have heard a little bit earlier, but let's go back to the pit lane and to Ted for take two."

And when the cameras cut to the pit lane reporter, he continued: "Simon, can I just add to that, big apologies from my side. Just to let you know, we're live now - when the cars come out for the presentation, which I recorded earlier, I seek perfection but sometimes I don't get it and. And if I mess up a first take and them I'm frustrated with myself, sometimes a naughty word comes out.

"Obviously, that was never meant to be played - that's our mistake and we're owning that. I apologise that that take, which was not meant to be played, got played out. This happens in television sometimes, so apologies for that. We'll seek to do better next time."

Naturally, the incident did not go unnoticed by fans, many of whom took to social media to react to what they had seen and heard. "Can’t believe they played one of Ted Kravitz's outtakes on the Ferrari front wing," wrote one.

Another joked that the Sky Sports F1 favourite "needs a delay" to his segments to avoid such mistakes. And a third tagged Kravitz in their post as they asked him: "Did someone forget to tell you it was live TV?"

And there were plenty of others who pointed out the irony of the mistake coming in the same week that FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem called for drivers to mind their language while racing, and revealed that the governing body has asked F1 chiefs not to broadcast profanity to fans at home.

One fan wrote: "The FIA banning swearing from drivers and then Ted Kravitz having the wrong take aired on Sky of him just swearing is so funny." And another added: "Ted dropping F-bombs within minutes of the F1 broadcast starting has made my day."
