Potential Liverpool transfer target Daniel Svensson has hinted at an upcoming move after acknowledging the Merseyside club's interest.

Currently showcasing his skills with Danish Superliga outfit FC Nordsjaelland, the 22-year-old Swedish sensation's impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, drawing eyes from some of Europe's elite teams. While on duty with Sweden's national team, Svensson revealed to the press back home that he's been clued in on Liverpool monitoring his progress over the past few seasons.

Despite Arne Slot's apparent interest, Svensson admits he's in the dark over Liverpool's intentions and whether they actually plan to swoop for him. However, he teased that a departure from FC Nordsjaelland could be on the cards either this January or next summer.

In a candid chat, Svensson responded to the buzz surrounding his connection with Liverpool. He also talked about being linked with other big-name clubs like Juventus and OGC Nice.

"Great fun, of course. It's a sign that I'm doing something right and performing well," Svensson said to Swedish publication Fotbollskanalen. "I just take it as fuel to run on. It was obviously a bit surreal. It was perhaps not entirely expected that I would get to read about it."

The multi-faceted player, adept in midfield and at left back, opened up about Liverpool's interest, saying: "I don't know much about it. I only know that they watched some matches and such. More than that I don't know."

Yet, he acknowledged the possibility of finishing the season with Nordsjaelland before seeking pastures new. The promising Swedish international also now feels prepared to take a leap to one of Europe's elite clubs, reports the Liverpool Echo.

"I'm in the fifth season now. The idea is that I will move on relatively soon anyway. It's certainly not impossible (A January exit), but it might happen that I play the whole season and then move on.

"The club has said that they want to keep certain players for the rest of the season, and I seem to be one of those players. It is likely that I will stay for the rest of the season.

"I have played many seasons in Denmark and especially towards the end it has gone well. I'm absolutely ready (to move on)."

Liverpool supporters aware of Svensson's talent are likely to be thrilled by the prospect of him joining their ranks. The young midfielder has drawn parallels to Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga and, one time Liverpool target, Moises Caicedo, though in recent times he has been deployed more often in a full-back role.

Svensson kicked off his professional career at 18, penning his first contract with IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden. After just six appearances with the club, he was swiftly snapped up and he was sold to Nordsjaelland in Denmark for a modest £226, as per TransferMarkt.

The youngster made an immediate impact on his senior debut during the 2020 Danish Superliga season, notching up two assists in 22 matches and racking up 1,400 minutes on the pitch. Last season, Svensson's progress took a meteoric rise as he emerged as one of Nordsjaelland's most dependable players.

He featured in 31 out of the club's 32 league games, contributing two goals and eight assists, placing him second in the rankings only to FC Copenhagen's Elias Achouri - another player being eyed by many of Europe's top clubs. Liverpool's unsuccessful attempt to sign midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the summer, coupled with their well-documented search for a new full-back, could see them steer towards the young Swede.

His ability to play in both positions is undoubtedly also a massive draw for the Reds. With Sevensson's current contract set to expire in 2027, and clubs keen to snap him up while his market value sits around a modest £3million however, Liverpool might need to move quickly to secure the services of the promising starlet.
