Gary Neville and Roy Keane on same page after explosive rant live on Sky Sports

Gary Neville launched into a rant about Wolves' approach in their defeat to Liverpool and his former Manchester United teammate Roy Keane delivered a similar rant about MK Dons earlier this month

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville hit out at Wolves' tactics towards the end of their 2-1 loss to Liverpool and his ex-team-mate Roy Keane shares the same view.

Neville was not happy with Wolves for passing the ball around the back, despite the fact they needed to score an equaliser. In an explosive rant on commentary for Sky Sports, he said: "They've passed it back to the goalkeeper.

"It absolutely drives me crazy. You need a goal. Do they know? Stop it. Honestly, it's so frustrating. I can't watch this because the reality is you can't kid football fans. They know exactly what's going on here.

"You've got to have another idea to try and do something different. I'm not talking about wellying it long and second balls. We always blame it on Pep [Guardiola] but Pep's teams can do it, so I've no problem with Guardiola's team and the way he plays.

"He's been one of the greatest coaches of all time. His teams over 10 years have been some of the best we've ever watched. But we're now watching teams at the lower end of the table playing six passes between the centre-back and goalkeeper needing a goal with four minutes to go and I can't accept that.

"It's not just a criticism of Wolves, there's plenty of teams doing it. It's got to stop. I have no problem with them trying to play out from the back, but there's got to be some point in the game where you say, 'Look, we're struggling to have an impact on the game, we need a goal, we need to create some form of pressure, get the atmosphere in the ground going'."

And Keane has previously voiced similar thoughts, hitting out at League Two side MK Dons after watching them lose to Salford City, the club which is co-owned by the Neville brothers, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs.

"The craziness I find when players are coming up playing out the back when they're losing," Keane said on the Stick to Football podcast. "The goalkeeper was coming out, he was taking seven or eight touches...

"I was going to hang around the dressing room after the match and see the MK Dons goalkeeper and ask him, going 'you know when you're losing with 15 minutes [left]... you're f***ing losing!'" This prompted laughter from Neville and Carragher, but Keane wasn't done. You know in American sports, the time out. After 70 minutes you just do the time out.

"The lads will come over to you and you can go 'Lads, you know we're losing, you have to get the ball down there'. [You see] 19 passes. MK Dons. Who do you think you are? Get it forward. It's as if they don't know what the score is."
