NBA icon LeBron James has confessed that he's been keeping a keen eye on Tom Brady's transition into broadcasting, as he contemplates a potential move into TV post-retirement.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend, known as "King James", has long secured his legacy as one of the greatest in the game, boasting four NBA championships and MVP titles. However, at 39, it's uncertain how much longer he will continue to play.

As the oldest star currently in the NBA and the league's all-time leading scorer, James has now shared his thoughts on what might be next for him when he finally hangs up his boots. With fellow sports icon Brady having recently joined Fox Sports as an in-game analyst for the new NFL season in a whopping $375million (£280m) deal, James hinted that he might also consider a stint in the commentary box.

During a chat on the GoJo and Golic podcast, Mike Golic Sr. quizzed James about his future plans. He asked: "Your breakdowns are incredible and your good buddy, Tom Brady...is in the booth now. With your breakdown, you ever think when you're done you may end up in the booth, breaking down basketball?"

The Lakers phenom, when asked about his future ventures, stated: "You know, I don't know - I definitely love the sport. I love basketball, I love football. And I watch it not only as a fan but also just breaking down matchups, just things of that nature. I was brought into sports. When you grow up in Northeast Ohio, listen, you grow up in sports."

LeBron then added to the conversation regarding possibly joining the ranks of sports commentating legends like Brady: "It would be great. I see Tom Brady doing it. He's been great so far. We will see. Even if it's just a guest appearance. You know, one game or two, when I'm done playing.

"But it's always fun to give back to the game. The game has given me so much. So if it's basketball, if it's football, if it's whatever - I love the word sport. Because it's given so much to me and my family and it's only right I give back to it."

Reflecting on his own beginnings as a sports announcer, Brady recounted calling the match between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns with Kevin Burkhardt, acknowledging there's room for improvement: "[It was] Certainly a lot of fun, definitely some things to clean up,' adding, 'So it's all a learning process."

Meanwhile, Joe Buck, the voice of Monday Night Football, has come out in support of the former New England Patriots star. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, he said: "I think it's absolutely impossible to grade anybody and say somebody is going to be good, not good after one game."

"This is a hard job. We all do our piece of it. You have to be able to settle in, know what you need to know. [...] It's grossly unfair that everybody wants to weigh in after five seconds. That's not the way it works."
