Former Borussia Dotmund boss Edin Terzic is the latest name to come under consideration from Manchester United as a possible replacement for Erik ten Hag.

Speculation has continued to mount over the Dutchman's future at Old Trafford after a poor start to the season sees the club sit 14th in the Premier League. The Red Devils have went four games without a win as Ten Hag looks to improve upon a 2023/24 that almost saw him sacked in the summer.

United chiefs have already seen a lengthy meeting over the international break, while Ten Hag was on holiday, but that did not result in the ex-Ajax boss being handed his marching orders. It appears the club are keeping thier options open with Terzic under the microscope of United bosses however.

The German coach is currently out of work after departing Borrusia Dortmund of his own accord. The 41-year-old led the Bundesliga side to the Champions League final last term but fell to Real Madrid.

Reports suggest that Terzic's name has made United's shortlist of replacements for when they come to replace Ten Hag. The ex-Dortmund scout is said to have a number of admirers at the Premier League club.

Terzic has some experience of life in England. The young coach earned his coaching badges in the nation, alongside Graham Potter and Nemanja Vidic, and previously served as Slaven Bilic's assistant at West Ham United, after a spell with Besiktas.

The likes of Gareth Southgate, Simone Inzaghi and Thomas Tuchel have all be touted to take the reigns at the 13-times Premier League champons but for the moment in appears Ten Hag will remain in charge for United's return to action against Brentford. The Dutchman will hope to quickly climb the table to secure his future.

Ten Hag's former Manchester United assistant Benni McCarthy believes that only one coach could currently do a superior job. The ex-Blackburn and Porto sharpshooter claims the Red Devils would need to convince Pep Guardiola to cross the city to turn things around.

"Who else is better than Ten Hag?" McCarthy said. "You’re not gonna get many managers unless Pep decides to change from Man City to United, then maybe you might have a change in fortunes, but other than that, I can’t see who’s better than Ten Hag."
