Gary Neville makes Erling Haaland claim after Man City star matches Cristiano Ronaldo record

Gary Neville was left raving about Erling Haaland after the brilliance of his historic strike against Arsenal on Sunday, praising him for his "dismissive" finish that takes him level with Cristiano Ronaldo as the quickest to 100 goals

Gary Neville hailed Erling Haaland for his "utter devastation" in scoring Manchester City's opening goal against Arsenal on Sunday to notch the 100th strike of his career at the Etihad.

Haaland was a key figure in City's thrilling 2-2 draw against the Gunners on Sunday afternoon as he finished superbly to put his side ahead and then was involved in a heated clash with Arsenal players at the end of the game.

But his first goal was superb as he collected a through ball from Savinho, raced past Gabriel and William Saliba before toe-poking the ball past David Raya in goal.

It was the Norwegian's 10th goal of the season already and it marked a century in just 105 games - meaning he is now the joint-fastest player to reach 100 goals, matching a record held by Cristiano Ronaldo. Both players have completed the feat in 105 games.

Neville was left raving about Haaland after the brilliance of his historic strike, praising him for his "dismissive" finish.

"That is complete and utter devastation in footballing terms!" the former Man United defender said on commentary duty for Sky Sports.

"Brilliant from Savinho but as soon as you see Haaland point to that space, the acceleration from the two best centre backs in the country is unbelievable. The poke past Raya is dismissive."

Haaland's goal was the beginning of a crazy game that saw a brilliant equaliser from Riccardo Calafiori from range - a goal that Pep Guardiola was so furious about that he kicked his chair in the dugout. The Spaniard felt Arsenal's free kick in the build-up should have been taken 10 yards away from the original foul.

After Gabriel Magalhaes equalised, Arsenal were left with an uphill task as Leandro Trossard was sent off for a second yellow just before the break.

City searched for a breakthrough for much of the second half but were left frustrated as Arsenal sat back - before finally getting their equaliser through John Stones - with Haaland riling up the visitors by throwing the ball against the head of Gabriel.

Haaland was then involved in a huge clash between the two teams as Gabriel Jesus stepped in to square up to the Norwegian.
