Tim Lovejoy has confronted Chris Moyles about their long-standing feud, telling the former Radio One presenter "You started it all".

The pair were two of the biggest names in broadcasting in the noughties, with millions tuning into their respective shows. But former Soccer AM host Lovejoy, 56, and The Chris Moyles show host, 50, became unlikely enemies for a period.

Now, having buried the hatchet some time ago, they have finally addressed their beef publicly on football podcast Soccer A-Z. The weekly show reunites Lovejoy with his long-time co-presenter Helen Chamberlain.

Lovejoy said: "I was in the office one day and people were like, 'Moyles has sl***ed you off', and I'm like 'Really?!' And then you did it again a couple times.

"I remember going out in Swansea and this girl coming up to me and going 'Are you all right? Chris Moyles has really been having a go at you on the radio'.

Lovejoy, who co-hosted the hit football show for over a decade, added: "In those days, you were so massive we couldn't believe you were talking about us. So I just sort of carried on the rivalry a bit. I used to love it."

Moyles, however, had no recollection of having been the instigator. The now Radio X host was clearly stunned as he responded: "But what was I saying? I swear on my mother's life I don't remember [what I said]. I didn't see Soccer AM so I can't have been sl***ing you off for Soccer AM."

Lovejoy interjected: "Yeah you were!" to which Moyles said: "But I didn't see it. Why would I be doing it? I don't know why." That led to Lovejoy saying: "Honestly, I wouldn't have started that because it's not in my nature. You started it all! You did.

"The first time I was sort of half shocked because obviously I'm getting sl***ed off on the biggest radio show. But the other half of me was going 'This is kind of cool.'"

Moyles, who was known for making heated comments on the radio during the 2000s, admitted: "It got so bad that I just didn't like going out anywhere because I didn't want to bump into somebody because I wouldn't know if I'd sl***ed them off or not."

The rivalry finally died down when, according to Lovejoy, the pair bumped into each other at an event and began talking. He left thinking Moyles was "such a nice bloke". Moyles and Lovejoy later appeared on Soccer AM's Sunday morning show Something for the Weekend in 2010.
