Fulham star left with 'mixed feelings' after what could have been in Man City defeat

Andreas Pereira was on target for Fulham at Manchester City but the Cottagers missed a host of chances in their 3-2 defeat at the Etihad

Andreas Pereira said Fulham can take many positives from the way they played at Manchester City – despite coming away with nothing.

Marco Silva's side caused Pep Guardiola's champions a host of problems and created a series of goalscoring chances, but were unable to make them count.

Midfielder Pereira, who opened the scoring, said: “It's a little bit of mixed feelings. We created a few chances, we could have come away with a draw and I would say that would have been fair.

“So mixed feelings, but very proud of the players as well, for what we did. We played well. It's a difficult place to play and they have a lot of quality players. But we showed that we can compete against them."

Reflecting on his goal, which came courtesy of an exquisite back-heeled assist from Raul Jimenez, Pereira said: “After the build-up, when Raul got the ball, I know that he has a little bit of an acrobatic style and he can always give balls in a special way.

“When I saw he was going for the back-heel, I took a little bit more space and tried to read the trajectory of the ball, so I was lucky there.”
