Steve Jones has three selections for Saturday on ITV

Value Scope: Each way horseracing tips from Steve Jones for Saturday on ITV

The meeting at Ascot is the focus for our in-form tipster who has picked three horses and particularly likes the chance of United Approach on the soft ground

TAKE the UNITED APPROACH (3.35) in the BetMGM Challenge Cup.

James Tate’s runner will appreciate Ascot’s soft surface and he lines up as a fresher horse than most of his rivals after just three starts this season.

His head second behind Lord Bertie over today’s course and distance was a decent effort and he will be much better suited by the demands of this big-field handicap.

He’s got cheekpieces on for the first time. They could give him that added edge but he looks naturally progressive after just six career races.

There’s a fair bit of early pace around where he is drawn nearer to the stands’ side. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. Sky Bet is paying out on seven places.

KORKER (3.00) will also love the soft conditions.

He stormed home into third place in the Ayr Gold Cup on much quicker ground, having filled the same position in a York Listed contest on his previous start.

Karl Burke’s sprinter is at his best when he gets a decent pace to aim at and that looks assured with proven frontrunners Apollo One and Adaay In Devon in the field.

It was this time of year that he hit form last season when wins at Beverley and Windsor sandwiched an excellent second in the Listed Rous Stakes at this meeting.

He’s not had many chances over 6f having spent much of his career racing over the minimum distance but he looks better suited by this trip these days. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. Sky Bet is offering a generous four places.

EMBRACE (4.10) finished in midfield in the 1000 Guineas last year when trained by Owen Burrows.

Things haven’t gone to plan since then but she has only had two starts since switching to George Boughey.

There was lots of promise in her return from a four-month break at Goodwood in August. She always needs a bit of luck as she likes to be ridden off the pace in the early stages and she just didn’t get any before staying on when it was all too late.

This race should pan out better and her jockey Jamie Spencer rides Ascot’s straight course superbly. Have 1pt each-way at 22-1. A couple of firms are going four places.
