Arsenal news: Gilberto Silva warns of major error as stunning title collapse predicted

Arsenal are currently in the middle of a break from club action due to the current international break but a few worries have been shared about their fight for the Premier League title

by · The Mirror

Arsenal find themselves in a positive position heading into the second international break of the season.

The Gunners have won five out of their opening seven games of the campaign and sit third in the Premier League table. Mikel Arteta ’s side are just one point behind current table toppers Liverpool.

The Arsenal boss will certainly be hoping that his side return with a clean bill of health over the next few weeks. Work will already be starting ahead of next weekend’s clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

But there has unfortunately been a blow after Thomas Partey was forced to pull out of international duty. Take a look at all of the headlines from North London over the past 24 hours:

Silva fires warning

Arsenal invincible Gilberto Silva has warned Mikel Arteta that the Gunners’ hopes of a Premier League title could hinge on any dropped points at the Emirates Stadium. The Brazilian said: “I think that the team today is very mature, structured.

“When we look at the Arsenal team, the players, the team, the formation, the balance between the sectors is very well defined. It is important to go far,” Silva told MyBettingSites.

“The signings that have been coming in have been important, with results, this also makes the whole job easier. It’s not just about hiring, you need to hire athletes who come in and wear the shirt and deliver results for a team like Arsenal.

“It won’t be easy, again. It is important to learn from past mistakes. In the last two seasons, they made crucial mistakes against smaller and mid-table teams, especially at home. They have to do this homework very well this season.”

Title collapse predicted

While Silva has sent a warning, a new prediction has suggested that Arsenal could finish EIGHTH in the Premier League should their current form continue. An Opta simulation has taken into account the number of goals scored by each side in each match based on the expected goals (xG) value of every shot taken.

It then uses the simulated number of goals to determine the match outcome (win/draw/loss). Each match is then simulated 10,000 times.

And the underlying numbers suggest that Arsenal should be sitting eighth. Current table toppers Liverpool are also leading the way in the Opta simulation.

Martinelli hails Saka

One of the stars that will hope to keep Arsenal’s title challenge on track is Bukayo Saka. And the England winger has now been praised by teammate Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian said: "He's unbelievable, and one of the best players in the world right now. He's a really nice guy as well so we're really happy to have him here as one of the captains.”

Saka has recently joined up with the England squad for international duty. The Three Lions take on Greece and Finland over the next fortnight.
