A young Liverpool supporter cheekily asked TNT Sports pundit Joe Cole to get him Mohamed Salah's autograph during Liverpool's win over Crystal Palace.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool star was covering the game alongside fellow pundit Peter Crouch when a young fan in the crowd beckoned him over. However, instead of wanting a selfie or an autograph from Cole, they asked him to get Salah's instead.

"Talking of kids, Joe has just been called over by a kid in the crowd," TNT Sports presenter Lynsey Hipgrave explained. "He thought they wanted a selfie but they actually gave him a piece of paper…"

Cole continued: "He asked me to get Mo Salah to sign it for him, but I'm not sure what Arne Slot would make of me knocking on his door at half-time asking him to sign something."

Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the game as Liverpool beat Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park, ensuring the Reds will remain top of the league heading into the international break. "Mostly for me it's special," manager Arne Slot said when asked about being top.

"Players go to their national team and they think of the national team, but for me if I lose it is three to four days of being unhappy. I think my wife will be happy as she will have someone home who is happy.

"Really satisfied with how we started the season. It is a good start not only the results, but I liked our performance today. There was a period of the game we conceded free-kicks and that was a difficult period. For the last 10 minutes we kept the ball very well.

"The fixtures [after the break] are difficult, but I have felt how difficult Wolves and Palace are away. It is good that we have won these games and it is up to us to show ourselves in the big games."

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk added: "We keep going and we keep working. We are never satisfied. We needed Alli [Alisson] twice, but that is what we try to avoid. Everyone is contributing to clean sheets.

"I think there is always expectations towards different teams - whatever the outside world thinks of us we don't really care. We want to try challenge, compete, win and be successful."
