Liverpool urged to snap up 'next Mohamed Salah' as he sends Arne Slot perfect transfer message
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Omar Marmoush in recent weeks to replace the legend Mohamed Salah - and the Egypt international reminded the Merseyside outfit why on Thursday night
by Joseph Wilkes, Jake Stokes · The MirrorLiverpool have been put on high alert by Omar Marmoush, who's been showing off his skills and proving why many see him as the ideal successor for Mohamed Salah.
The 25-year-old striker has caught the eye with his dazzling displays for Eintracht Frankfurt, sparking rumours of a possible switch to Anfield off the back of his formidable form.
Marmoush has been pivotal in propelling Dino Toppmöller's Frankfurt to third in the German Bundesliga standings, thanks to his dynamic presence upfront. With his contract at Deutsche Bank Park running until June 2027, he's already bagged an impressive 10 goals and dished out six assists in nine appearances.
Not just shining domestically, the Egypt international has also been turning heads in the Europa League, captaining a standout moment with a sensational free-kick against Slavia Prague on Thursday night that secured their spotless record in the competition. Standing over the ball just outside the 18-yard box, Marmoush guided the ball over the wall and into the top left corner, stunning the static goalkeeper who was left rooted to the ground.
Celebrations ensued as Marmoush sprinted for a knee slide toward the corner flag before being swamped by his ecstatic teammates. With performances like this, it's no wonder he's rapidly becoming one of Europe's most sought-after forwards, and Liverpool are reportedly being advised to act swiftly to secure his signature.
Last month, Liverpool's very own Didi Hamann endorsed Marmoush's talents, suggesting to wettbasis.com that he believes the striker could make waves in England.
Hamann stated: "I think that both Frankfurt strikers (Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike) are on the radar of the English. A wonderful couple that harmonise very well with each other. With Ekitike, we knew that he had great potential. He had indicated that last season, in the winter, and now he seems to be taking off.
"With Marmoush, I was always surprised at Wolfsburg that he didn't really get going. But he's a wonderful player, a great finisher, and has pace. So they're both players who are obviously very interesting for the Premier League."
Hamann remarked, praising the pairing's synergy and potential impact on English football, saying: "It will be difficult to follow Salah. I don't think he has missed ten games in eight or nine years. So it will be difficult to follow him, but I would trust Marmoush to do it."
Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah is locked in an increasingly precarious position with his contract set to run out at season's end, according to the Liverpool Echo. The Egyptian maestro could be snapped up by foreign clubs flaunting pre-contract offers as early as January if Liverpool fails to secure his signature sooner.
If Salah doesn't ink a deal soon, Liverpool finds themselves in a bind over whether to gamble on losing him for nothing or to flog him in the upcoming transfer window.
Salah, famed for his Anfield heroics, was previously rumoured to be eyeing a switch to the Saudi Pro League, yet nothing came of the whispers last year.
