Viktor Gyokeres' Sporting CP exit 'agreement' explained amid Man United transfer battle
by Josh Holland · Manchester Evening NewsManchester United's hopes of bringing Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford could be handed a significant boost courtesy of a reported gentleman's agreement between the player and Sporting CP.
Gyokeres, 26, has set the world alight since moving to the Portuguese side in 2022. The Sweden international has scored a sensational 66 goals in 67 games for Sporting, a tally that was helped by his recent hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.
His two penalties and calm finish further showcased why top clubs around Europe are monitoring his situation. Ruben Amorim's imminent switch to United has resulted in rumours linking Gyokeres with joining him.

It's been widely reported that the former Coventry City star has an £83.2million release clause in his contract at Sporting. However, Sky Sports Germany has reported that an agreement between the player and club means he can seal a transfer away for less than that figure in the summer.
A value of £50m-£58m would reportedly be enough to grant a transfer for the striker. A move away form the Primeira Liga champions in January is not planned but an exit in the summer remains 'very likely', it is also claimed.
The report adds that Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are 'specifically interested' in Gyokeres. The agreement in place only comes into action once he sees out the season with Sporting.
Amorim hinted that Gyokeres could depart in the summer following Tuesday's win over City. He told TNT Sports: "Viktor Gyokeres' Sporting CP exit 'agreement' explained amid Man United transfer battle.
"If I start joking about that with Gyokeres, I'll have problems. This is my city, this is my country, so I will respect. Viktor has to stay until the end of the season and then his life is going some... maybe, somewhere else."
