Team behind Manchester pizzeria and bier hall win big at top restaurant awards
by Adam Maidment · Manchester Evening NewsThe team behind Albert’s Schloss and Rudy’s have won two top awards at a prestigious ceremony this week celebrating the best restaurants in the country.
Mission Mars, who are also behind Manchester’s Albert Hall, have won the Restaurant Group of the Year (over 20 sites) at the R200 Awards, which honour the UK’s leading hospitality operators.
The group also won the Best New Opening prize for its new Albert’s Schloss London location, which opened on Shaftesbury Avenue in the summer. The newer Bavarian-style bier hall follows spots in Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool.

Pizzeria branch Rudy’s, which started life in Ancoats in 2015, opened its 27th spot in Altrincham earlier this summer - marking its seventh location across Greater Manchester.
Its famous pizzas are made using authentic Neapolitan dough and quality ingredients, with popular choices including the Doppia Mozzarella, a Calabrese, and an Agnello Vegano featuring plant-based lamb, olives and tender stem broccoli.

Rudy’s also serves up a selection of classic Italian desserts, including tiramisu, gelato and a boozy Rum Baba, alongside a full bar serving up the likes of iconic Italian spritzes, Italian Poretti lager, and classic stirred cocktails.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Rudy’s would be opening its first ever north Manchester restaurant with a new site set within a historic building in Bury town Prestwich due to open its doors at the end of the year.
The R200 Awards, organised by the Restaurant publication, were hosted in London on Monday night (November 4) and also saw the likes of Flat Iron win Best Value Restaurant Group and Hawksmoor named International Company of the Year.
Dishoom's CEO Brian Trollip was also named Person of the Year, whilst the Indian restaurant's collaboration with Pastis was named Campaign of the Year. JKS Pub Division, which has a number of locations in London and the United Arab Emirates, was named winner of the Food-led Pub Group award.
