Sir Jim Ratcliffe sanctions Erik ten Hag request as Manchester United meeting ends

Erik ten Hag has reportedly requested a privacy wall to be built at Manchester United's training ground, costing the club £200,000. The Carrington training base is currently undergoing £50million worth of upgrades as United aim to compete with other top-tier teams in terms of facilities.

However, the ongoing changes have left training sessions somewhat exposed. Consequently, Ten Hag has called for a large white wall to be erected to shield their training sessions from prying eyes and provide some weather protection.

The wall has been approved by INEOS chiefs and other senior figures in Manchester despite the Dutchman's future being in doubt. The Daily Mail reports that this change will restore the privacy the United players had at the old training pitch.

However, the expenditure on the new wall could upset some staff members. United have implemented severe cost-cutting measures, resulting in 250 job losses during a significant reshuffle.

The new co-owners have pledged to reinvest any savings into first-team operations, but several staff members have questioned whether the wall is worth the expense. This comes after Ratcliffe revoked their usual FA Cup final perks last season, reports the Mirror.

Louis van Gaal, the former manager of United who led the team for two seasons, is widely remembered for his unconventional tactics, such as ordering diggers and earth movers to Carrington to install windbreakers. Van Gaal justified his decision by saying "wind is not always the friend of the players."

These adjustments highlight the club's dedication to providing top-notch facilities for their squad and coaching staff, particularly during the ongoing enhancements at their Carrington training ground.

Yet, this comes against a backdrop of mounting ambiguity surrounding the managerial post. A meeting concerning Ten Hag's future took place in London on Tuesday, though no definitive outcome has been relayed.
