'Nothing tactical' - Ruben Amorim explains how Sporting beat Man City before Manchester United switch
by Joe Bray · Manchester Evening NewsRuben Amorim insists he made no tactical changes at half-time before watching his Sporting side score twice in as many minutes to stun Manchester City in the Champions League.
City had dominated the first half against Sporting and were ahead early on. Viktor Gyokeres got them level on the break, however, and Max Araujo slid them ahead just 20 seconds into the second half. Gyokeres converted a penalty won just 22 seconds after the game restarted, and completed his hat-trick from the spot later in the half.
Sporting blew City away at the start of the second half, but Amorim - who will take over at Manchester United next week - insisted there were no tactical tweaks to force the two quick goals.

"It was written," he said after his final home game at Sporting following a glittering four years. "The first half was very tough. We were very lucky. In the second half we scored twice in the first minutes. The environment, everything helped us.
"It was an amazing night, a good moment. We all deserve it here. We started so low four years ago, an amazing day."
Pressed on what he said to his players at half-time, Amorim pointed to a focus on Mateo Kovacic but insisted the main changes were through momentum, confidence, and a swing in the atmosphere.
"Lucky," he stated again. "2-1 and 3-1 was nothing tactical. It was so fast. We changed a bit the pressure, closed more in the middle. Let Trincao cover Kovacic. We improve. Then 3-1 all the environment pushes us to the end of the game."
