Man United players' 'true feelings' on Ruud van Nistelrooy clear ahead of Ruben Amorim arrival
by Jack Flintham · Manchester Evening NewsManchester United's squad reportedly want Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay at the club despite Ruben Amorim's impending arrival as manager.
Van Nistelrooy arrived at Old Trafford in the summer on the recommendation of previous manager Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman became the Reds' assistant manager following the departures of Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren at the beginning of the campaign.
It was deemed by some that Van Nistelrooy was being groomed to replace Ten Hag as manager should he be sacked but this theory proved to be untrue. When the United boss left last week, the former PSV Eindhoven head coach stepped up to become interim manager while Ineos search for a replacement.

Once Amorim was appointed last Friday, United confirmed that Van Nistelrooy would lead the team up until November 11 when the Portuguese coach begins work in Manchester. Since taking over, the Dutchman has overseen a victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup and a draw to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Van Nistelrooy will be in the dugout for this Thursday's Europa League clash with PAOK and the match with Leicester in the Premier League before stepping aside. However, it is currently unclear whether he will remain at the club once Amorim starts.
According to Sky Sports, the United players would want the legendary striker to stay as they feel he has become a good go-between the squad and the management staff. It is also thought that first-team coach Darren Fletcher is held in high regard for his work bridging the gap between the academy and the first-team.
Amorim has already confirmed that he will be bringing his coaching team to Old Trafford next week and this makes it difficult for Van Nistelrooy to stay on in his current role as assistant. However, the 48-year-old is believed to be open to staying at United which could hint at him being flexible in regards a new job title.
