Noel Gallagher new role confirmed as Oasis star lands dream gig after tour announcement
by Kieran King · Manchester Evening NewsNoel Gallagher featured on TNT Sports co-commentary duty for Manchester City's trip to Sporting CP in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old, who was pictured in the away end watching his beloved City against Bournemouth on Saturday, was present in the commentary box alongside Ally McCoist and Darren Fletcher in Lisbon.
Gallagher witnessed City get off to the perfect start, taking the lead within the first five minutes. Phil Foden put City ahead, pouncing on a loose pass before firing past goalkeeper Franco Israel.

Sporting then should have levelled just moments later. Top scorer Viktor Gyokeres ran clean through on goal and tried to clip the ball over Ederson, but the City 'keeper stood tall and claimed the shot.
Gallagher is widely-known to be a City superfan, often attending matches in person. Speaking about being a supporter of the club following the release of their Definitiely City kit in September, Gallagher said: "I’ve been supporting City for 50 years and the last decade this has been stuff that dreams are made of.
"One of the great days of my life was when we were away at Brighton on the last day of the season. We had to win that game. We were in the dressing room afterwards with the players and Kevin De Bruyne is handing me a beer. How did it get any better than this?
"I’ve had some great times with the players and what you see from the outside is true. They’re a really tight, brilliant bunch of lads, funny and really accommodating.
"And I never take it for granted either. It’s an amazing privilege."
During TNT's match coverage, Gallagher shared his thoughts on Pep Guardiola's future, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. "I personally think he'll stay. I mean, I don't know, he's not saying anything to me, but I personally think he'll stay for one more year," Gallagher said. "Then it gives everybody a chance to breathe and reflect on what he did, you know, and if he could nick another Champions League this year, be great."
Noel and Liam Gallagher announced back in August that Oasis would be reuniting to launch a UK tour next summer. 38 dates have been confirmed from July to November, with a huge global response following since the brothers announced their return in explosive fashion.
In a joint statement, the band said: "The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised."
The concerts will come 16 years after the band split when Noel quit before a show at a French festival, and 30 years since the release of their second album, 1995's (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
After Oasis separated, Noel went solo and started to perform gigs on his own. Noel's High Flying Birds released a self-titled album in October 2011, before announcing a second album four years later.
He has since released two further albums, the last of which came out in June 2023 and was titled: Council Skies. Noel performed live in Hull, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Glasgow and Liverpool.
Despite being busy with his music career, Gallagher has never let that distract him from watching City and following his club on a week-to-week basis. He has often been present at City's title-winning celebrations and was spotted cutting a delighted figure after beating West Ham to win the Premier League title in May.

Manchester City wrapped up the 2023/24 season with a fourth successive Premier League title, but they missed out on another Treble with defeat in the FA Cup final and Champions League quarter-finals. It's now time for Pep Guardiola and co to turn their attention to the transfer window.
