Former UFC champion Michael Bisping has revealed he chased down a thief who stole his partner's purse in Paris, France.

Bisping, 45, became the MMA promotion's first ever British champion when he beat Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 in June 2016. He took the fight on 17 days notice and made history when he beat the American.

The Clitheroe native fought out of Manchester during his career and won 30 of his 39 mixed martial arts fights, retiring in 2017. Bisping was in Paris as part of ESPN's broadcast of the UFC in the French capital and frequently features on TNT Sports' coverage of the combat sport.

In a video posted to X, Bisping said: "I'm here in the famous Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, having a little walk around but earlier today, I had to stop a crime. I was sitting with Rebecca, having breakfast, in Paris and some little s**t snatches Rebecca's bag and runs away.

"I chased after him, got ahold of him, he had the bag already hidden in a towel of some sort, he didn't speak a word of English. I didn't do anything to him, got the bag back, he was s******g his pants, poor guy. He was like, 'Please! Please! Please! Merci! Merci! Merci' and I was like oooh.

"I let him go, he turned around then *boom* kick up the a***, little s**t. Anyway, got the bag back, all is good. Palace of Versaille, very beautiful but I tell you what, it is absolutely packed. Anyway, see you in a bit."
