Adidas make major Man United 2025/26 kit call as Premier League rival shunned

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester United have once again been named as one of Adidas' 'elite teams' for the forthcoming 2025/26 season, according to reports.

This decision means the Reds are one of only a handful of clubs who receive the highest level of attention from the German manufacturer when their shirt is being developed. Like this season, United shall receive the 'authentic kits' which use their Heat.Dry technology as well as the trefoil 'Adidas Originals' logo on the third kit.

United's third kit went down incredibly well with supporters this season as its alternative design proved a hit with the fanbase. The Reds will be joined by Arsenal as well as Liverpool and Newcastle United for the first time from the Premier League as elite teams, according to Footy Headlines.

Scottish champions Celtic and Italian giants AS Roma are also thought to be making the jump up to 'elite team' status from next season. However, there is no place for Aston Villa who joined the Adidas family this season after switching from Castore.

Juventus, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid make up the remaining nine-strong 'elite team' clubs for Adidas. United switched back to the German manufacturer for the 2015/16 season onwards signing a huge deal that was worth £841.7m ($1.1bn) to the Reds over its ten-year life.

In July 2023, United extended their Adidas deal by a further ten years until 2035 with this contract worth a minimum of £900m over ten years. Discussing the extension last year, former United CEO Richard Arnold said: "The relationship between Manchester United and Adidas is one of the most iconic in world sport, forged through a shared commitment to style, flair and, most importantly, high performance.

"With its roots in the 1980s, our partnership has been reinvented over the past decade with some of the most innovative designs and technology in sportswear. We are now looking forward to refreshing this powerful partnership again through the remainder of this decade and into the 2030s."
