Man City vs Arsenal simulated on EA FC 25 to predict Premier League title clash

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester City take on fellow title favourites Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend as Pep Guardiola's side look to maintain their winning start to the season.

It may only be the fifth game of the Premier League campaign, but it's expected that in the long run, the outcome of City and Arsenal could play a big part in who comes out on top at the end of the season. Last year, Arsenal took four points off City from a possible six, with Guardiola's side being held to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad, but a win for City later today would give them a five-point lead over Arsenal early doors.

Both City and Arsenal drew 0-0 in their Champions League openers ahead of Sunday's clash, with Guardiola's side failing to score in a 0-0 stalemate against Inter. Kevin De Bruyne was forced off at half-time against Inter with an injury, so he may not be risked from the go against the Gunners.

So, can City claim a big three points against Arsenal later today? Let's take a look.

We simulated Man City vs Arsenal to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that City could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Ederson; Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Gundogan, Foden; Silva, Haaland, Grealish.

We predict that Arsenal could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Jorginho, Havertz, Rice; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.

City came firing out the blocks in the simulation, and it took the hosts just four minutes to take the lead when Erling Haaland scored from the penalty spot after he was pulled down by Gabriel inside the box. A goal ahead, confidence was high, and in the 20th minute, Haaland grabbed his and City's second.

As Arsenal sat deep and absorbed City's pressure, Jack Grealish flicked a fantastic ball through to Haaland who just about remained onside. The striker shrugged off Gabriel before sending a powerful strike into the top corner, giving Guardiola's side a healthy two-goal lead early on.

Despite the deficit, Arsenal's heads didn't drop, and they almost pulled a goal back when Bukayo Saka's curling effort from distance was pushed onto the post by Ederson. Suddenly, the momentum switched, and just before the break, the Gunners grabbed a goal.

Declan Rice laid the ball off to Gabriel Martinelli 30 yards from goal, and the Brazilian used his pace to exploit a gap in the City defence. The winger managed to evade challenges from Rico Lewis and Ruben Dias as he broke into the box, and a deft finish with the outside of his foot round the far corner to make it 2-1.

After a thrilling first-half contest, the second half was far from that. City defended well as Arsenal struggled to break them down, and despite a late Leandro Trossard chance that saw him lift a shot over the bar from a few yards out, the visitors failed to trouble City as Guardiola's side continued their 100% start to the Premier League campaign.
