Paul Scholes delivers surprise midfield verdict to new Man United manager Ruben Amorim
by Keifer MacDonald · Manchester Evening NewsPaul Scholes believes Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte could be a midfield option for incoming head coach Ruben Amorim after their impressive performance in Manchester United's 2-0 win over PAOK.
The duo were together on the field for 69 minutes of United's Europa League victory against the Greek outfit on Thursday night at Old Trafford and turned in one of their strongest displays of the season. Five-time Champions League winner Casemiro struggled for form under Erik ten Hag this season and was criticised for his performances in home defeats to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, Ugarte, a £50m summer signing from Paris Saint-Germain, started just one Premier League game before the Dutchman's sacking last month. However, Scholes believes Casemiro and Ugarte - the latter of whom worked with Amorim at Sporting CP - could be a key partnership for the incoming manager when he arrives at Old Trafford next week.

Speaking on TNT Sport after United's win, Scholes said: "Casemiro and Ugarte, that could be the start of something. Looking forward to Amorim, it looks like a partnership that could be good together.
"I think that allows Bruno a little bit more freedom up the top of the pitch."
Amorim will begin work at Old Trafford on November 11 and oversee his first game against Ipswich Town on November 24.
