Juventus drop Paul Pogba hint after former Man United star’s clear statement on return

Juventus' sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli says he is unsure what the future holds for Paul Pogba after his four-year doping ban was cut to 18 months earlier this week.

Former Manchester United midfielder Pogba was slapped with a four-year ban by Italy's anti-doping body, Nado, in February after elevated levels of testosterone were found in his system in August 2023.

Earlier this week, though, the 31-year-old successfully appealed the length of his ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and as a result, will be able to resume training with Juventus in January.

But despite the successful appeal, Pogba'a future with Juventus is in doubt after Giuntoli revealed the Italians are yet to make a decision on the Frenchman, who has less than two years remaining on his deal in Turin.

“First, we’re waiting for the final decision from CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport)," said Giuntoli on Saturday. "He was a great player, but he’s been out for a long time. We’re waiting.”

Speaking after CAS decided to slash his ban to 18 months, Pogba said "Finally the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.

"I always stated that I never knowingly breached World Anti-Doping Agency regulations when I took a nutritional supplement prescribed to me by a doctor, which does not affect or enhance the performance of male athletes.

"I play with integrity and, although I must accept that this is a strict liability offence, I want to place on record my thanks to the Court of Arbitration for Sport's judges who heard my explanation.

"This has been a hugely distressing period in my life because everything I have worked so hard for has been put on hold."
