Erik ten Hag makes unusual Manchester United decision ahead of West Ham United clash

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester United made the unusual decision not to train at Carrington ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash against West Ham United.

The Reds will hope to breathe new life into their Premier League campaign when they take on the Hammers at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon. However, Erik ten Hag's side's preparations for the game have been slightly out of the ordinary as United instead put together the final touches of their game plan at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road on Saturday afternoon.

The decision was made due to the quick turnaround after the draw at Fenerbahce on Thursday, with United choosing to stay in Turkey on Thursday night before flying directly to London on Friday. It meant the Reds needed someone to train on Saturday afternoon ahead of Sunday's game against the Hammers and with Orient playing at Wycombe Wanderers, the League Out outfit allowed United to use their facilitates.

United's hopes of claiming a fourth Premier League victory of the season will be boosted by the returns of Bruno Fernandes and Jonny Evans. However, Ten Hag will be unable to call on the services of Antony, who missed the session due to an ankle injury he picked up against Jose Mourinho's side on Thursday.

United could end Sunday afternoon as high as seventh if they are able to secure victory at the London Stadium.
