EPL: Rio Ferdinand singles out one Man Utd player after 3-0 defeat to Tottenham

by · Daily Post

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has claimed that Andre Onana can “walk away with his head high” after their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

According to Ferdinand, Onana is the only United player to emerge “with any sort of credit” from the game.

The Cameroon goalkeeper pulled off several decent stops to bring the score to three for the Red Devils.

Spurs went ahead in the first half through Brennan Johnson, before Bruno Fernandes was sent off for the hosts.

Goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke in the second half put the game out of sight in the second half.

Erik ten Hag’s men are now down in 12th place – eight points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel: “Do you know who I’ve got to give a shout out to, who got a lot of stick last season? Onana.

“Without him, it’s six or seven today. Onana has been good this season, he’s stepped up, and he’s made some big saves.

“He’s the only one today who comes out of the game with any sort of credit, any sort of positives.

“He can walk away with his head high. He won’t because he’ll be sitting there hurting, he conceded three goals. But he wasn’t at fault for any of the goals, he kept us in the game.”
