Top Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has stated that he is 100% pain-free and still hopeful of being selected for the upcoming high-stakes Test series against Australia. There have been doubts about Shami's fitness after he missed international cricket since last year's ODI World Cup final due to an ankle injury.

However, the experienced seamer sent a clear message with his performance during a net session in Bengaluru on Sunday. He bowled at full tilt and intensity after India's opening Test match against New Zealand. This displayed his confidence levels and ability to push his body to the limit.

In a statement to reporters, Shami declared: “I am very happy with how I bowled yesterday during the nets. I increased my run-up length to full and delivered the ball at my maximum speed and rhythm. The results were encouraging as I didn't feel any pain.”

When asked about his prospects for the Australia Tests, Shami responded: “It is still some time away but I am 100% pain-free at the moment. There was speculation about my recovery but I want to prove my fitness.” He further emphasized his sole focus is on being match-ready through intense training stints.

The seasoned pacer also expressed his desire to gain match practice before the all-important Australia assignments. He stated that playing a few Ranji Trophy games for Bengal would help him gain confidence and sharpen skills. Shami is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for the marquee series against the Baggy Greens.
