FC Barcelona Suffers Double Injury Scare Ahead Of Real Sociedad
by Tom Sanderson · ForbesFC Barcelona fans suffered a double injury scare on the eve of a La Liga clash with Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Both Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal were absent from training with the first team on Saturday, as part of a session that is routinely attended by journalists for the first 15 minutes ahead of manager Hansi Flick holding his prematch press conference.
Their no-show was reported on by multiple outlets, including SPORT. Over at AS, the Madrid-based newspaper's Barca correspondent Javi Miguel explained that Olmo didn't train because of coming down with a bout of gastroenteritis and having a fever.
He is expected to travel to San Sebastian with the rest of the squad, but it is currently unknown whether he will be fit enough to face La Reale in Anoeta.
Olmo has only just returned to the line up after suffering a hamstring injury in September.
Prior to that, he had impressed with his initial maiden professional appearances for his boyhood club after completing a move worth more than $60 million from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old enjoyed cameos in the recent landmark wins over Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Real Madrid in El Clasico upon returning, and got a starting nod against Espanyol last Sunday.

His first half brace in the 3-1 win meant that Olmo now boasts five goals in five La Liga appearances this term, and having to sit on the sidelines against the Basques would be a minor setback for the midfielder.
Culers were also panicked by news that Olmo's fellow Euro 2024 winner with Spain, Lamine Yamal, didn't train either.
Rather than being anything to worry about, it appears that the teenage prodigy merely worked out in the gym instead, as opposed to taking to the field at the Joan Gamper CT.
He is expected to start on the right wing against La Real, in what is Barca's last domestic game ahead of international soccer taking over the calendar for a fortnight.
After a nasty head blow suffered midweek in the Champions League, which caused him to require 10 stitches amid a 5-2 thrashing of Red Star Belgrade, Pau Cubarsi should be able to play but will do so with a protective mask he showed off on the training ground.
