Kevin Holland suffered a nasty rib injury last night (Sat., Oct. 5, 2024) at UFC 307 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, leaving him unable to continue in his fight against middleweight contender Roman Dolidze.

It was apparent early on that Dolidze had a noticeable size and strength advantage. Holland possesses a tall frame, but Dolidze is built much stronger. The Georgian fighter is even coming off a light heavyweight fight against Anthony Smith. Holland was only buying time in the early moments before Dolidze would get a hold of him and put his power to use.

That’s exactly what happened as Dolidze secured a nice takedown in the middle of the first round. Holland was on the defensive and tried to roll under Dolidze. During that process, Holland twisted his body and ended up injuring his ribs. “Trailblazer” was in immediate pain as Dolidze took advantage with heavy ground-and-pound. Holland somehow survived to the bell.

Holland’s corner and ringside officials took a good look at him before the second round and gave him a moment to see if he could continue. The fan favorite didn’t want to say he couldn’t fight, but you could see it on his face. Holland was in too much pain and the fight was called off.
