2025 TGL schedule, start date: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy's golf league set to kick off inaugural season

by Patrick McDonald · CBS SportsTiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's new indoor simulator golf league, TGL, announced Monday the schedule for its inaugural season set to kick off Tuesday, Jan. 7. The season will run from January through March and include 15 regular-season matches, a four-team playoff and a best-of-three finals that will crown the first TGL champion.
Matches will take place primarily in primetime on either Monday or Tuesday nights. Each is expected to last roughly two hours. Three players from each team will battle in 15-hole matches including nine holes of Triples (3 vs. 3 alternate shot) and six holes of Singles (head-to-head play).
Players will strike full-swing shots into a simulator screen with short-game shots and putts taking place inside the newly built So-Fi Center located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The opening match will pit two-time major champion Xander Schauffele and his New York Golf Club against U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark and the Bay Golf Club. Woods and McIlroy are surprising omissions from the league's inaugural match considering their status as founding members.
Woods' Jupiter Links Golf Club is featured in the second match, though his playing status is unknown following another back surgery this offseason. McIlroy's Boston Common Golf will play in the fourth match against Woods' team during the last week of January.
