Loudmouth Malmo boss in X-rated meltdown as he declares 'obviously I'm stupid' after Rangers taunt backfires

Henrik Rydstrom wasn't pleased after the Swedish champions slumped to Europa League defeat

by · Daily Record

Raging Malmo boss Henrik Rydstrom fumed at the Swedish press as he watched the club's jabs at Rangers backfire in a miserable Europa League defeat.

The Swedes took to social media in an attempt at mind-games ahead of the Europa League opener, posting a video online showing footage of the two Champions League wins they recorded over Gers back in 2011 and 2021. The clip included a caption which poked fun at the financial woes which forced the Light Blues to work their way back from the Third Division.

Speaking before the game, Rydstrom declared he saw nothing wrong with the wind-up attempt and branded the club's online jabs as "a bit of fun" - however, it only served to motivate Philippe Clement's side. The Scottish Premiership side hit the opener inside the opening minute as Nedim Bajrami 's strike saw Rangers fly out of the traps before Ross McCausland sealed a comfortable three points in Scandinavia with his second half strike.

Pressed on a mistake from Gabriel Busanello in the build-up to the opening goal, he Rydstrom sharply responded: "S*** happens. It is symptomatic that we are playing backwards.

"This is a problem we've had for a damn long time. I have tried to get my players to understand that we do not play the ball backwards to our goalkeeper. Our goalkeepers are not our playmakers. Instead of taking the responsibility to play forward, we had lateral passes and passes towards home that I don't really understand."

He was then pressed on his pre-match comments. The irked boss declared: "You can ask 'are you as a head coach stupid?' Yes. I'm obviously stupid."
