Rangers accused of being run like a CIRCUS and Ibrox hero points to Premier League boss' rant that proves it

Derek Ferguson isn't happy with how the club is being run

by · Daily Record

Derek Ferguson reckons Rangers are a 'bit of a circus' - and is happy to take Russell Martin's side after he pointed the finger at them during the summer.

Former Scotland defender Martin appeared to have a go at his former club after the late collapse of winger Samuel Edozie's proposed move to Ibrox. The wide-man was lined up to join on loan but it didn't go through and, according to the Southampton boss, all the fault was at Rangers' end.

He was particularly frustrated at how late things fell through - although Edozie was able to secure a move to Anderlecht instead. And former midfielder Ferguson takes Martin's side on the saga, fearing it was another instance of Rangers 'letting themselves down.'

He told Ibrox News: “I've not got a clue (what happened), but Russell has come out and he says it was Rangers’ fault and do you know something? He’s probably right. It's been a bit of a circus at the moment. There’s so many things where Rangers let themselves down big time. And that just looks like another one.

"So if Russell Martin’s come out and said that, do you know something? I believe him. Rangers probably have been at fault, as they have been with a number of issues over the course of the last number of years, so that wouldn’t surprise me one single bit.”

Interest in Edozie emerged out of nowhere on deadline day but dissipated just as quickly - prompting a rant from Martin who feared he would be unable to secure another move for Edozie at such short notice. The Belgian window being open for longer eventually presented an alternative, but an irked Martin said at the time: "What frustrated me was how late it fell through and it wasn't on our end.

"I think it's a bit unfair to Sam really. It's a bit disappointing but it is what it is. Every club has their prerogative and their priorities in the transfer window.

"I was gutted for Sam because it was too late to then find another opportunity to go and play football. He'll get to work like everyone else now. Get his head down, work really hard and try and get himself into the squad and into the team.
