Irvine Victoria announce departure of manager after difficult start to season

Irvine Victoria have parted company with manager Stuart MacDuff following a disappointing start to the season.

The Vics sit second bottom in the West of Scotland Third Division with a solitary league win to their name after 11 games. MacDuff took over from his father Dougie in the summer but results have been hard to come by for the club.

Despite their lowly league position, MacDuff was able to provide a special moment for the Vics fans as he helped guide them to a Marymass victory over rivals Irvine Meadow earlier this year.

The club made the announcement via social media and confirmed the search is underway for a new management team.

The statement, released on Thursday morning, from the club's committe read: "The club have taken the difficult decision to part company with Stuart MacDuff and his management team yesterday morning from Irvine Victoria FC.

"We wish Stuart, Paul, Max, Scott and Dylan all the best in their future football roles and are disappointed that the results on the pitch have not come. We can not fault their dedication to the club and we are thankful for their efforts including the historic Marymass Cup win at Meadow Park. They are always welcome at Victoria Park.

"Going forward Saturday's game will be looked after by the senior players whilst the search for a new manager begins in due course."
