Sir Andy Murray is helping Boys Brigade youngsters in his hometown of Dunblane in their bid to visit a community in Africa.
The 25th Stirling (Dunblane) BB is giving people the chance to own one of the two-time Wimbledon champ’s match-play shirts - signed by the legend himself.
The BB is aiming to raise £21,000 to ensure everyone who was selected to make a trip to Likhubula in Malawi can go, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Malawi 2025 group will see 17 BB members travel there next summer.
Dunblane’s partnership with the community of Likhubula in Malawi goes back almost 20 years and the BB is a big part of this, regularly fundraising to support small-scale, sustainable projects that are led by the needs of the community.
The BB boys have already taken on a host of fundraising challenges from cycling to climbing, and regularly hold events such as book sales.
But they hope giving people the chance to get their hands on one of local hero Sir Andy’s shirts will give the effort a further boost towards their target.
A BB spokesperson said: “This is a unique opportunity to own one of Sir Andy Murray’s distinctive, signed black match-play shirts. The shirt is signed by the player and donated and authenticated by the player’s management team.
“As a Dunblane boy, Sir Andy donated this shirt to a Dunblane institution - the 25th Stirling (Dunblane) Boys’ Brigade Company, to support their fundraising efforts for their visit and work in the town’s longstanding partnership community of Likhubula in Malawi."
The raffle for the signed Andy Murray game shirt runs throughout the month of November. Visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/andymurrayshirt to buy your raffle tickets. All funds raised will support the Malawi 25 team efforts.
