Kings of come back, impressive CAPS United beat Dynamos

CAPS United ended their five-year winless run against Dynamos in fashion with a 2-1 victory from behind in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match played at Rufaro Stadium Sunday

Makepekepe’s victory comes three weeks after ending another five-year jinx against Highlanders with a 3-2 win behind at the same venue.

Sunday’s match saw Dembare recording its first league defeat under the tutelage of interim coach Lloyd ‘Mablanyo’ Chigowe, who took over from Genesis Mangombe in August.

Dynamos looked like they had the game in the pocket aftet going for the break leading 1-0 thanks to Valentine Kadonzvo’s 35th minute goal.

However, they failed to hold on to the lead as they were punished in the 71st minute by former player, Jayden Bakari, who tapped in a cross from Junior Bunjira to level the game.

Makepekepe then doubled its lead 10 minutes later through Innocent Zambezi, who fired a free kick from the left side of the pitch towards the city end goal post.

The victory saw CAPS United leapfrogging Dynamos to position six on the log with 39 points, two behind defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars.

On the other end, Dynamos dropped two places down on the log to position nine with 38 points.

Commenting after the match Dynamos coach Chigowe apportioned blame on his charges for lacking concentration in the second half.

“I think you saw Jayden Bakari had a point to prove and he scored their first  decisive goal.

“Overally, I think we went to sleep when we conceded that first goal and it’s unfortunate, they managed to get the second goal from a reckless free kick we conceded,” said Mablanyo

In the other Castle Lager Premier Soccer League results, FC Platinum were held to 2-2 draw by Hwange at the Colliery, giving room to Simba Bhora, who are now on top with nine points with five games to go.

At Barbourfields Stadium, Highlanders edged ZPC Kariba 2-0.
