Young batter Rinku Singh rescued the Indian team and then entertained the Delhi crowd with a blazing fifty in the second T20I against Bangladesh on Wednesday. Rinku Singh’s explosive half-century, coming off just 26 deliveries, entertained the packed crowd and played a pivotal role in helping India reach a mammoth total of 221 for 9.

India were in a spot of bother early on, losing three wickets and struggling to maintain momentum, with the scoreboard ticking at less than eight runs per over by the end of the eighth. Sanju Samson was the first to fall, departing for a low score, and shortly after, Abhishek Sharma followed suit, struggling once again with just 15 runs off 11 balls. The biggest blow came when Bangladesh tightened their grip and dismissed Suryakumar Yadav, leaving India in trouble at three down.

With the pressure mounting, India needed someone to step up, and Nitish Kumar rose to the occasion. Despite the loss of early wickets, the SRH batter played fearlessly, unleashing a flurry of strokes. Sixes started raining down as Nitish dispatched the bowlers with ease. His aggressive approach saw him reach a quickfire fifty in just 27 balls.

Rinku, known for his big-hitting prowess, ignited the innings with a flurry of boundaries and sixes. The left-hander took charge, and his half-century came in style, as he dispatched Tanzim’s deliveries with ease—a pull past fine leg for four, a cracking drive through extra cover, and a top-edged six that soared over the keeper’s head into the sightscreen.

Rinku's partner at the crease, youngster Nitish Kumar Redd also joined the assault, immediately taking on leg-spinner Rishad with a four and six in successive deliveries. The momentum shifted firmly in India’s favor, with the team reaching 100 by the halfway mark, thanks to a late surge of 39 runs in the last two overs of the first half of the innings.

Bangladesh's senior all-rounder, Mahmudullah, had a forgettable outing with the ball, leaking 15 runs in his first over. His indiscipline was evident as he bowled both a wide and a no-ball, and Sai Kishore Reddy capitalized, smashing a massive six over long on during the free hit.

Rinku continued to dominate, taking 24 runs off Rishad's over, which featured some scintillating stroke play, including a cracking pull shot that sent the ball flying over midwicket. Although his entertaining knock came to an end when he was caught at deep midwicket off a Taskin Ahmed delivery, his contribution laid a strong foundation for India’s innings. Taskin was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers, finishing with impressive figures of 2/16, but his efforts were overshadowed by the carnage inflicted by Rinku and the Indian middle order.
