  • Marsh said Head has the ability to change the game with his bowling
  • Head bowled the 50th over twice in England series

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh has claimed that Travis Head is underrated as a bowler after their series win against England on September 29, Sunday. Head picked up 4 wickets against England in Bristol and also scored an explosive 31 to help the Aussies secure a 49-run win in the series decider via DLS method.

Head would end up scoring 248 runs and picked up 6 wickets as he was adjudged as the Player Of The Series. The opener was also given the job to bowl the 50th over on two occasions during the series and delivered wickets. Speaking after the match, Marsh said that Head seems to change the game each time he comes on to bowl. The Aussie skipper said they were lucky to have many bowling options in their lineup depending upon the conditions.

“I think he’s a very underrated bowler and every time he bowls he seems to change the game in a way. He’s a great character, we always love his celebrations, so like I said earlier, it’s great to have as many options as you can, and the conditions change, it started spinning a bit later on in their innings, so to have options like him, we are lucky,"

Didn’t come here expecting to bowl the 50th twice

Head also opened up about his bowling and claimed that he didn't expect to be given the job of delivering the 50th over twice. The opener said that he was happy to get the job done, given that they will be heading to Sri Lanka in a couple of months.

"Joking about death bowling with (Josh) Hazlewood. I know he’s always complaining about bowling at the death. I didn’t come here expecting to bowl the 50th twice but nice to get the job done. We’re going to Galle in a couple of months time, so keeping my loads up," said Head.

Head and Australia will next be in action in November when they play Pakistan in an ODI series before the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India.
