Former Bangladesh batter Tamim Iqbal hailed Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja's plan for the dismissal of Litton Das on Day 2 of the 1st Test match in Chennai. India dominated Bangladesh on Friday, Day 2 of the Test match, by running through their batting line-up.

Veteran Shakib Al Hasan and wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das showed some resistance during the match and built a partnership of 51 runs of 94 balls. The partnership came to an end after Litton Das played a wild slog against Ravindra Jadeja and got caught at deep mid-wicket by Dhruv Jurel. Sharma was visibly ecstatic after the dismissal and celebrated the dismissal with Jadeja.

Speaking at the Tea break, Tamim Iqbal lauded the plan from the India captain and bowler, stating that Rohit and Jadeja invited Litton to force the mistake.

"The sweep was a wrong shot. It's a bit unnecessary. I think it was obviously the spinners were, you know, putting Bangladeshi under pressure. But I thought, you know, there was no need of playing that shot and plus the Shakib reverse-sweep as well. the pitch was not doing anything. You just had to keep on playing percentage cricket. You didn't have to try to do many things, and they were fine until Litton Das played that sweep shot. But I think it was a masterstroke from Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja," Tamim Iqbal said on Jio Cinema.

"There was a short leg in place for Litton Das, the ball before he played that sweep shot. That short leg had come to short point. That means they had blocked that single so that they could force Litton to play that big sweep shot. That's exactly what happened. And you can see that on Rohit Sharma's face and face that there was a plan and that plan worked out really well," he further added.

Bangladesh were bowled out for just 149 runs in the first innings. The team conceded a lead of 227 runs and put themselves in major trouble. Jasprit Bumrah picked 4 wickets, while Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj and Jadeja picked up 2 wickets each.
