Mehidy Hasan Miraz became the fourth Bangladeshi bowler to reach the landmark of 300 wickets in international cricket. The 26-year-old achieved the feat on Day 4 of the second Test against Rohit Sharma’s India at the Green Park in Kanpur. The other bowlers to have achieved the feat are Shakib Al Hasan (712), Mashrafe Mortaza (389) and Mustafizur Rahman (323).
Mehidy reached the milestone in only his 169th innings in international cricket since his debut back in 2016. His 300th wicket was that of Akash Deep as he finished with figures of 6.4-0-41-4. On Sunday, he also made his comeback in Bangladesh’s T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against India.

Bangladesh struggle despite Mehidy Hasan shining
Mominul Haque Showrabh scored a hundred, but Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 in 74.2 overs. Thereafter, India came out firing on all cylinders and declared their innings at 285 for nine, taking a lead of 52 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul scored 72 and 68 respectively.
Mehidy struggled in the Chennai Test, but he bowled relatively well in Kanpur, although he leaked runs at more than a run-a-ball. Starting with, he cleaned up Rohit Sharma with an absolute peach that turned sharply. Thereafter, he got rid Ravindra Jadeja, who was outstanding at the Chepauk.
Mehidy picked up his third wicket in the form of KL Rahul, who scored a quick-fire 68 off 43 balls. He got the wicket of Deep to pick up his 300th wicket.
Shakib Al Hasan, who had a poor outing with the ball in Chennai, finished with figures of 11-0-78-4. In 81 innings from 43 Tests thus far, Mehidy has picked up 181 wickets at an economy rate of 3.14 with 10 five-wicket hauls to his name.
