Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Leny Yoro as the French defender continues his recovery from injury. Yoro had joined United in the summer from Lille as the Red Devils beat competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool to get the signature of the highly-rated defender. However, Yoro is yet to make his debut in the Premier League as he suffered a long-term injury during the pre-season.

Yoro would then undergo surgery to fix the issue and was seen back at Carrington and had posted on social media about his recovery. Speaking ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur clash, Ten Hag said that Yoro is doing well at the moment and the club is pleased with the direction of his rehab process.

While Ten Hag remained coy on a return date for the French defender, the United boss said that the 18-year-old is in the right spot and will return to the first-team training as soon as possible.

"Yes, he is doing very well," said Ten Hag to MUTV ahead of Sunday's clash with Tottenham.

"It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon, is that he is now in the right planning process.

"He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training."

Why Yoro chose Manchester United

Yoro had revealed in an interview that he had joined United as it was the biggest club in the world.

“For me Man United, the club is the biggest in the world. When I was the young - the players who were here, the history, the fans - everything is big here.”

“I don’t know if I was ready [to expect it to be this big]! But I will not complain, it’s really good. The fans, the stadium, everything is good,” said Yoro.

United will be facing Tottenham on Sunday, September 29.
