Ashwin also became only the second player in history to score a century and take a five-wicket haul in a Test match four times, trailing only Ian Botham (5). Ashwin joins an elite group featuring Garry Sobers, Jacques Kallis, Mushtaq Mohammad, Shakib Al Hasan, and Ravindra Jadeja, all of whom have achieved the feat twice.

In addition, Ashwin's seventh five-wicket haul in the fourth innings of a Test puts him in joint second place, alongside Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralidaran. Only Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath, with 12, has more.

Notably, Ashwin became the first player to accomplish this feat twice at the same venue, having scored 106 and taken 5/43 against England in Chennai in 2021. His consistency at Chepauk adds to his status as one of India's greatest all-rounders.
