Adil Rashid spun his way to create history as he became the first England spinner and the 2nd fastest English bowler to complete 200 ODI wickets. Rashid is already England's leading spinner in the format, with Moeen Ali with 111 and Graeme Swann with 104 scalps being the only other two spinners to take more than 100 men's ODI wickets. Rashid reached the 200-wicket milestone when he dismissed Glenn Maxwell for 7 during his sixth over in the second ODI match between England and Australia at Headingley.

Maxwell tried to hit Rashid out of the ground but managed to hit straight to deep mid-wicket. Rashid went onto dismiss Adam Zampa for three runs and finished with figures of 2/42 in his spell. It was a collective bowling effort from the England bowlers as Australia were bundled out for 270 runs in 44.4 overs. Rashid joined Darren Gough and James Anderson to become only the 3rd English bowler to enter the 200 ODI wickets club.

Adil Rashid reaches incredible milestone

Adil Rashid's rise as England's most-reliant spinner

Overall, Rashid is the 12th spinner to reach the milestone as he stood behind Bangladesh's Abdur Razzak, who has 207 scalps to his name. However, Rashid remains long-way behind the all-time list of spinners with most ODI wickets as Muttiah Muralitharan, with 534 wickets, leads the chart, followed by Shakib Al Hasan who has 317 and Ravindra Jadeja with 220 wickets.

Rashid took only 137 ODI innings to reach the 200-wicket mark, which made him the third-fastest spinner of all time. He stood behind only Saqlain Mushtaq and Shane Warne, who took 104 and 125 matches respectively. Darren Gough reached the 200-wicket mark quickly within 134 matches. Rashid stood at 17th place in the overall list of fastest bowlers to 200 ODI wickets.

He made his debut for England in 2009 during the T20 World Cup, playing in all four of England's games. However, he established himself as the country's leading white-ball spinner in 2015 and was a key player in their ICC ODI World Cup triumph in 2019 at home and ICC T20 World Cup in 2022.
