India captain Harmanpreet Kaur showcased confidence in overcoming the Australia threat in the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. She said that this was the best squad that was heading for the marquee tournament. The Indian captain also said that the Australian team must also be aware that they can come hard on them. She aimed at the team playing good cricket, in order to stand a chance to beat a tough opponent like Australia. Her remarks came during the pre-departure press conference in Mumbai, before the India squad headed to Dubai, where they begin their campaign. The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will kickstart from October 3.

"Look their team is good no doubt about that. They also know that India is one of the teams that can go really hard on them. I think that is a really positive sign. We know that whenever we are playing against them, we can beat them any day, any time. Winning the title for so many years, its a great opportunity for us. They know that we are a team that is really good. We just want to play good cricket and be in that frame where we are aware and keep talking about those things that will help us beat them," Harmanpreet told in the press-conference.

Can Australia haunt India again?

India suffered a heart-breaking loss in the final of the Women's T20 World Cup 2020 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. That was India's maiden final appearance at the event, but they suffered an 85-run defeat. Australia beat India in the semi-final and also played last year's summit-clash against hosts South Africa and were crowned champions for the third-straight time. Australia will arrive in the tournament as defending champions, eyeing their 4th straight title win.

"It's the best team going to the World Cup"

Harmanpreet highlighted the experience possessed by the Indian squad and felt that this was the best squad heading to the tournament.

"If I talk about this team, we have a few players who have been playing for a longer time and know their roles really well. I'm quite confident with this team and I can say that, yes, it's the best team going into the World Cup," Harmanpreet said.
